Community members, generally parents of prior and current Carlmont students, who are interested in becoming part of CAF can come to the organization's meetings which are held on a regular basis or can contact any of the current CAF members for membership information. The meetings are publicized on CAF's website. CAF has an open membership and is comprised of volunteers who are motivated and interested in supporting the foundation's mission and vision for Carlmont High School. Form 990, Part VI, Line 7a: How Members or Shareholders Elect Governing Body The all-volunteer board is made up of parents of current and former students of Carlmont High School. Elections for the officers are held at the May meeting for two-year terms as described in the bylaws. All members who attend the meetings are eligible to vote in the elections. Members are recruited from incoming and current Carlmont parents. The officers are nominated from the membership. Form 990, Part VI, Line 7b: Describe Decisions of Governing Body Approval by Members or Shareholders Regular monthly meetings are publicized on the organization's website and the membership is open to any interested community members. The organization's board members solicit information and suggestions from school administrators,faculty and staff, to determine the financial needs for the school. The board develops a budget of the items which can be supported during that fiscal year period and submits that budget for a vote of approval by the board and the members at large. Any release of funds is approved by vote at regular meetings and depends on available funds. The Performing Arts Council is a separate committee in The Carlmont Academic Foundation that plans the fundraising, develops the annual budget and approves the expenditures specifically for the Performing Arts Center. The committee holds its own meetings and maintains the minutes and documentation of their actions. Form 990, Part VI, Line 11b: Form 990 Review Process Upon completion of the organization's tax returns, a copy of the tax returns, including Form 990, are distributed to the Board for their review and approval prior to filing with the Internal Revenue Service and other state government agencies.
