We piloted our first regional one-day workshop for parents. We hosted a National Youth Advisory Council consisting of youth leaders from around the country. We provided help to over 250 new families through support groups, referrals and resources. We created a new partnership with PFLAG National. We continued our collaboration with the Child and Adolescent Gender, which is a unique collaboration between the UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital and community organizations dedicated to the health and well-being of transgender and other gender-expansive children. And we were thrilled by the release of the book The Transgender Teen: A Handbook for Parents and Professionals Supporting Transgender and Non-Binary Teens written by our Founder and Board Chair Stephanie Brill and our Executive Director Lisa Kenney. 293746 283145 Leadership Training & Development:Gender Spectrum offers comprehensive professional development and training services to educational, civic, social service, business, and other organizations to help to create more gender inclusive environments for all children and youth. In 2016 we trained over 7,000 professionals via national trainings and our annual Professional's Symposium. Evaluations show that over 90% of attendees reported increased knowledge about gender diversity and strategies to support gender-expansive youth as well as increased commitment to implementing gender inclusive practices. We also developed the Gender Inclusive Schools Network (GISN), a learning community of educational professionals committed to creating school settings where every child's gender is seen, understood, and honored. In 2016 we partnered with several national school leadership organizations to release the Transgender Students and School Bathrooms: Frequently Asked Questions which was shared with over 110,000 school leaders, downloaded by individuals in all 50 states and in over 55 countries. We partnered with the Youth and Gender Media Project to create a film, Creating Gender Inclusive Schools. We also partnered with the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP), and expanded our existing partnership with the Council to Prevent and Eliminate Discrimination in Mexico City (COPRED). 177919 Online Community, Education and Support:The Gender Spectrum Lounge is a safe and welcoming online community for teens, caregivers, and professionals from around the world to connect with each other, ask questions, share stories, and feel supported. In 2016 we added over 1,000 new users to the Lounge. Membership now spans every continent--even Antarctica. We hosted over 30 online programs for youth, parents and professionals. We facilitated monthly peer support groups for parents-including a national online group and a Spanish language group.
