Participants will learn all the basic information needed about computer technology so that they can communicate, regulate, and present information. Our goal is to empower the immigrant community through providing access to the latest computer technology. Fundamental computer skills are taught with bilingual instructions. The topics covered are typing skills, resume formatting, search engines, emails, software, and social media. 19682 0 1118 Youth Link includes two parts: the after school program and the summer youth program. The after school program provides efficient tutoring services to students of all ages to the community that we support. Our goal is to enhance academic achievement through the completion of a student's school work, the furthering of knowledge through learning activities/worksheets, and the development of confidence, responsibility, and enjoyment towards learning within an education-focused environment. Volunteer tutors are asked to help students complete all or a majority of their daily homework as well as any incomplete homework. After homework is completed, extra study time can be used to do worksheets, activities, or reading to help strengthen a student's skills in whatever subjects. Volunteer tutors encourage all students' independency, confidence, enjoyment, and responsibilities towards their academics. All tutors are dedicated to building relationships with the students and helping them succeed. This program runs during Fall, Winter, and Spring quarters. In the summer, the summer youth program provides students with the opportunity to maintain a high level of educational engagement throughout the summer. Curriculum for the summer focuses on reading, writing, and math, with work geared towards the students' appropriate levels. Students are additionally involved in projects that parallel their studies. Every board member has to sign agreement at the beginning of each term to agree the interest term at Helping Link. Form 990, Part VI, Section C, Line 19 Form 990, Part VI, Section C, Line 19 - Yes, Helping Link made its governing documents, conflict of interest policy, and financial statements available to the public upon requests during the tax year. Dear IRS Representative, We are asking for a waiver of penalties for our late filing. Reasonable cause for not submitting our 2015 Form 990 on time is as follows: During 2016, our volunteer accountant trained a graduate student to take on the organization's accounting needs because she just had a baby and also needed to attend to one of her elder family member needs. Because of our accountant's maternity leave, in addition to her family crisis, Helping Link filed a Form 990 extension request which extended the due date to November 15, 2016. The graduate student completed the 2015 Form 990 and he and the organization believed he had submitted it electronically by the November 15, 2016 deadline. It wasn't until we tried to access the online tool to work on the 2016 Form 990 that our new accountant and Helping Link became aware that the 2015 Form 990 had not been submitted as we thought. This was a few weeks ago. Since he was submitting the Form 990 electronically, our guess is that our accountant didn't push the final submit button. On discovering that the 2015 Form 990 had not been submitted, we quickly reviewed it and are submitting it now. We are small grassroots nonprofit organization with one staff person and many committed volunteers. The late filing penalty would cause an extreme hardship for our small organization. Throughout this past year, we believed that we had completed and submitted our 2015 Form 990 on time. As soon as we learned, that the 2015 Form 990 somehow had not been submitted, we jumped in to rectify the situation. We appreciate your consideration.
