The program provides high-quality care and education for low-income children to prepare them to enter school with age-appropriate skills, and offers families a safe and convenient program for their children while they work or attend school.Youth Development: Approximately 1,139 youths, ages 6-18 years, participated in the various programs. SSNC is one of the few "Safe Places" for at-risk kids in Northwest Milwaukee to find academic support, recreational opportunities, and strong adult role models after school and during the summer. The Transforming Milwaukee program trains unemployed individuals who do not qualify for unemployment, and places them in subsidized employment, predominantly in the private sector, for a maximum of six months. The program provides job support and coaching. In FY17, between July 1, 2016 and June 30, 2017, 129 individuals were placed in a subsidized job.Adult Education: 184 adults, ages 18-65+, were served from July 1, 2016 through June 30, 2017. In partnership with WTCS and MATC, SSNC provided intensive basic skill, GED preparatory, and English Language Learner classes for the Northwest Milwaukee community.
