In total, EUMA sheltered 248 children, 68% of all homeless children included in Erie County's HMIS homeless database.Liberty House for Homeless Veterans - A ten bed transitional shelter program for homeless male Veterans, the majority of whom have mental illness diagnosis and/or are in recovery from a drug or alcohol addiction. 31 homeless Veterans were sheltered by EUMA. Twelve of the fifteen Veterans exiting the program had a positive discharge to permanent housing. EUMA's Liberty House maintained an 87.79% occupancy rate for the period ended June 30, 2017. Liberty House staff, in close collaboration with the Erie County VA Medical Center provide housing, counseling, life skills, work therapy and other services as needed.Project Hope Outreach - The only 24 hour/7 days a week rapid response team that gets unsheltered homeless people off the streets as quickly as possibe; coordinates the annual single point in time unsheltered homeless count in Erie County; secures birth certificates, PA ID and drivers licenses. For all services, the outreach team served 347 people including 255 adults and 92 children. Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) for Erie County - As the lead agency, Erie County and homeless social service providers rely on EUMA to provide the only accurate and reliable homelessness database and tracking system. Erie County's social service providers depend on EUMA for training users, limited research and analysis, and reporting both locally and to national bodies including the U.S. Congress. Healthcare for the Homeless Partnership - Works to integrate housing and healthcare for those experiencing a housing crisis by providing direct medical care. 323252 The Refuge - A housing first 34 bed emergency shelter for families with children. EUMA welcomed 109 families including 233 children in the fiscal year. It is the only shelter in the region that keeps homeless fathers with their families and the only shelter that accepts single Dads. Families are provided with shelter, food, clothing, direct and referred case management services that all support their permanent housing placement. The Refuge provided 9,368 bed nights to those in a housing crisis. 204624 Rainbow Connection Thrift Store - The thrift store distributed new and mostly used coats, hats, shoes, clothes, household items, and furniture to 1,704 homeless and other individuals including 644 children witha documented need, free of charge and valued at over $43,000. For these people, EUMA is aiding newly housed families to turn their new permanent house into a home, reduce financial burdens, and provide one more way to partner with them to permanently end their housing crisis.
