We also trained all our staff members on a new database EveryAction to better track membership growth and retention. In 2017, our Law Organizing Department plus ROC chapter staff have helped file 27 unfair labor practice, EEOC, or wage board cases as well as providing know your rights training to hundreds of workers. In addition, we almost doubled the number of RAISE restaurants to more than 350 by the end of the year now at 700. We began pilot consulting with 4 restaurants through our RAISE Training and Technical Assistance Firm. This includes helping force the withdrawal of Secretary of Labor nominee Andrew Puzder, a main spokesperson for the National Restaurant Association for many years. ROC United published a report on CKE Restaurants, the burger chain that Andrew Puzder led, based on 564 surveys of workers and detailing poor workplace conditions and high levels of sexual harassment, which as well as ROC worker testimonies helped force his withdrawal. In addition, following approval from our Board and membership, ROC United was also a leading plaintiff in a high-profile lawsuit against President Donald Trump for violating the Emoluments Clause of the US Constitution, although this case was dismissed.
