Part X, Line 2: The Mission is classified by the Internal Revenue Service as a public charity exempt from federal income taxes on related business income under the provision of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Consequently, no federal or state income taxes have been provided in these financial statements, except on net income derived from unrelated business activities. The subsidiary is similarly exempt from Tennessee taxes in its related exempt net income under the provisions of the Tennessee Tax Code. The Mission's federal and state exempt organization returns for the years ended September 30, 2014, 2015 and 2016, are subject to examination by the Internal Revenue Service, generally for three years after they are filed.
