Part III, Lines 4 a,b,c,d - Statement of Program Service Accomplishments The League of Women Voters Education Fund (LWVEF) works to register voters, provide voters with election information through voter guides as well as candidate forums and debates. In September 2016, the League was the largest on-the-ground partner of National Voter Registration Day, with more than 350 state and local Leagues participating in registration events and contributing to registering more than 19,000 new voters. LWVEF plays a crucial complementary role in supporting the League's work to expand citizen participation in our democracy and defend voters' rights. In 2016 and 2017, LWVEF helped register tens of thousands of new voters, protected voters' rights at the polls, and provided customized information to more than 4 million voters across the country. As the nation's largest and longest-standing grassroots voter registration organization, we work year-round to make sure all eligible Americans - especially first-time voters, non-college youth, new citizens, communities of color, and low-income Americans - have the opportunity to register and vote. The League held more than 300 educational events in communities across the country to help people understand the new schemes and structures used to influence elections and erode protections against corruption in our political process, and to review possible responses to counter them in the current environment of rapid change. The League's VOTE411.org initiative helped more than 4 million voters in 2016 and 2017. Voters counted on the League and VOTE411.org to provide valuable information about the elections in their communities, including up-to-date information about polling places and requirements for voting, and information about opportunities to learn more about candidatessuch as by attending one of the hundreds of candidate debates and forums hosted by the League this year. VOTE411.org provided information about more than 24,000 races and ballot measures and nearly 45,000 candidates. Through print and online resources, including VOTE411.org, we equip voters with essential information about the election process in each state, including polling place hours and locations, ballot information, early or absentee voting rules, voter registration deadlines, ID requirements and more. Form 990, Part VI, Section A, line 7a The governing board of the League of Women Voters Education Fund is elected by the Board of Directors of the League of Women Voters of the United States. The governing board of the League of Women Voters Education Fund are elected for two-year terms. Currently, the governing boards of both organizations have the same membership. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 11b the form 990 is reviewed by the Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer before signing. The 990 is sent to the board prior to filing. The executive committee of the board reviews the form 990 with the executive staff after filing. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 12c The League of Women Voters Education Fund Chair and executive staff ensure that all officers, directors, and key employees submit written conflict of interest statements. The Chief Operating Officer reviews and approves all contracts and payments to further ensure that no conflicts of interest exist. The Chair conducts an annual review of the Executive Director based on these goals, which is supported by written documentation. The Chair uses the results of the annual review along with independently prepared comparability data to determine the Executive Director's compensation, which is documented on a personnel action form.
