The emergency safe house/shelter facility located in Washington County has a capacity of 15 beds and 2 cribs. The emergency safe house/shelter facility located in Fayette County has a capacity of 13 beds and 3 cribs. Safe shelter is provided in both shelters for up to 30 days at confidential locations. Services provided in the safe house/shelters include: 24-hour hotline; 24-hour intake and transportation; individual and group empowerment counseling; children's program; information and referrals; accompaniment; general and legal advocacy; and food, clothing and personal care items. In FY 2016/17, a total of 4,455 shelter nights were provided to a total of 265 women and children in the Washington County safe house/shelter, and a total of 2,284 shelter nights were provided to a total of 175 women and children in the Fayette County safe house/shelter. The Washington County safe house/shelter fielded 563 domestic violence-related hotline calls and the Fayette County safe house/shelter fielded 709 domestic violence-related hotline calls. A total of 8,217 hours of individual, group, and hotline empowerment counseling were provided to 1,074 domestic violence victims, children, and significant others in the Washington County safe house/shelter, and a total of 3,371 hours of individual, group, and hotline empowerment counseling were provided to 939 domestic violence victims, children, and significant others in the Fayette County safe house/shelter. 295419 244888 8791 THE DVSSP FRESH START TRANSITIONAL HOUSING: The DVSSP Fresh Start Transitional Housing program, which consists of 12 scattered-site apartments in Washington County, provides furnished apartments for up to two years to women, with or without children, who are homeless due to domestic violence. Services provided include: group and individual empowerment counseling; information and referrals; advocacy and accompaniment; life skills training; general and legal advocacy; transportation; children's program; and household items, clothing and personal care items. A total of 10 women and 27 children received transitional housing services in FY 2016/17. 112475 99139 14150 Domestic Violence Services of Southwestern PA SATELLITE OFFICE: Domestic Violence Services of Southwestern PA operates a satellite office in Greene County. Services provided to victims of domestic violence include: 24-hour hotline; transportation to the Washington County or Fayette County emergency shelter facilities; information and referrals; group and individual empowerment counseling; accompaniment; and legal and general advocacy. In FY 2016/17, our Greene County site fielded 187 domestic violence-related hotline calls. A total of 669 counseling hours were provided to a total of 339 victims, significant others, and children. A total of 82 Protection From Abuse petitions were filed through our Greene County site, which enters all Greene County PFA petitions into the statewide PFA database. 250818 243506 0 LEGAL ADVOCACY: In addition to DVSSP legal advocacy services offered in our Greene County satellite office, our Legal Advocacy Office in the Washington County Courthouse provides empowerment counseling and legal advocacy to victims of domestic violence. Services include information and referrals and assistance in filing Protection From Abuse petitions. In FY 2016/17, 519 Protection From Abuse petitions were filed through our Washington County legal advocacy program, which also enters all Washington County PFA petitions into the statewide PFA database. In FY 2016/17 in our Fayette County legal advocacy program, 477 Protection From Abuse petitions were filed. 187885 139505 4842 EDUCATION AND TRAINING DEPARTMENT: The DVSSP Education and Training Department focuses on the prevention of domestic violence, community awareness of the impact of domestic violence, trainings about domestic violence and the services available to victims, and volunteer opportunities within the organization. In FY 2016/17 in Washington County: 99 education/awareness programs were provided to 3,765 adults, and 212 education/awareness programs were provided to 7,163 students and youth. 210 primary prevention programs were provided to 6,959 students and youth. 31 community/systems trainings were provided to 483 persons, and 970 media and events of other types were completed. In FY 2016/17 in Greene County: 24 education/awareness programs were provided to 823 adults, and 57 education/awareness programs were provided to 2,989 students and youth. 54 primary prevention programs were provided to 2,129 students and youth. Seven (7) community/systems trainings were provided to 109 persons, and 105 media and events of other types were completed. In FY 2016/17 in Fayette County: 49 education/awareness programs were provided to 812 adults, and 68 education/awareness programs were provided to 1,230 students and youth. 68 primary prevention programs were provided to 1,230 students and youth. Three (3) community/systems trainings were provided to 35 persons, and 113 media and events of other types were completed. All 12 units are required by grant funding to be leased at or below the allowable HUD Fair Market Rental rates according to the number of bedrooms per unit. All of the units are leased below the allowable Fair Market Rental rates. Moreover, the two one-bedroom units are leased at identical amounts, and all ten two-bedroom units are leased at identical amounts. Eleven units/apartments are located within the city of Washington, with the exception of the unit described in Schedule L, Part IV, which is located in South Strabane township-Trinity School District and affords Washington County Fresh Start program participants the option of attending a school district other than the city of Washington school district. The Executive Director, who has a vote on the Board except in matters concerning her own employment, is the highest paid staff person in the organization. The Board of Directors determines the compensation of its Executive Director through both its internal written Compensation Policy and through the Personnel Committee's annual review of the current Bayer Center for Nonprofit Management and United Way of Allegheny County Wage and Benefit Survey of Southwestern Pennsylvania Nonprofit Organizations.
