On a national level, the ministry seeks to serve and promote prayer for Christians and non-Christians working in media who significantly impact our culture, and share the gospel with those who respond. This is done through mobilizing people to pray through the Media Leader Prayer Calendar (which identifies the top 365 media leaders and top 365 cultural influencers), the daily Media Minute, and participation in the nationwide Oscar Sunday movement. The focus is being loving ambassadors by being both a physical and virtual Christian presence to media professionals.Thousands of hours of phone, email, and face-to-face interaction are devoted to help individuals positively change their lives and ultimately media contant.National programs include serving non-Christian media professionals through the 90-minute Corporate Seminar to help them understand how the media they produce and present, is perceived by the evangelical community, as well as distributing specially-printed Bibles by the American Bible Society for media professionals. For constituents both working in media as well as individuals who have an interest in the media industry, the ministry provides a culturally relevant Christian lens into mainstream media through our website and publications like The Median and Insider Reports. 312598 East Coast Ministry (New York City area)The East Coast team undertakes ongoing one-on-one evangelism, mentoring, and spiritual conversations through outreach events to media professionals working in the Tri-State area. In 2017, there were numerous ongoing Bible studies, including an online study, as well as regular ongoing gatherings for media professionals. In addition, executive-level women's brunches/luncheons and Christmas and Easter events for non-believers and Christians working in media were held, as well as Media Forums for university students and seasoned Christian media executives. To augment the East Coast team's activities, twice a year, the West Coast leadership team travels to join the East Coast team for vital face-to-face outreach with top media leaders. 255568 West Coast Ministry (Greater Hollywood area)The West Coast team provides counsel and prayer support, and discipleship through small groups for men and women who are media professionals in the Hollywood / Southern California area. The reviewed Form 990 is then provided to the board of directors prior to filing with the IRS. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 12c The Organization monitors conflicts of interest on an annual basis by requiring that officers and directors of the Organization submit signed disclosures to the board of directors regarding any related party transactions. The board of directors shall consider data on how the transaction compares with other similar arm's length transactions or look at comparability data. Where the transaction being considered is a compensation arrangement, comparability data is information about the amount that would ordinarily be paid for similar services by similar organizations. In cases where the transaction is a transfer of property, comparability data is information about the property's fair market value such as a current independent appraisal. The board of directors who are involved in the decision making process are chosen based on the fact that they are independent and have no involvement with any related party transactions. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 15a When the new CEO was hired in 2015 a compensation study was performed. Compensation for CEO positions of similar size and mission type organizations were considered. The CEO's recommended compensation was presented and approved by the independent board. The process was documented in the board minutes. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 15b: In the past the process for determining compensation for all employees, including the CEO, involved a matrix of job classification, job experience, tenure, whether they raised individual staff support, and geographic location. The independent salary committee would review the information mentioned above to approve the compensation packages, noting their decision in the board minutes. This process has not taken place since 2008 as a result of a salary freeze.
