Since its founding in 1986 as a provider of transitional housing to homeless families in New York City, HELP USA has grown to become a builder and operator of service-enriched transitional and low-income permanent housing in five states. HELP USA operates 3,761 housing units at 40 residential sites across the country, comprising 1,076 units of permanent affordable and supportive housing, 1,041 units of transitional housing for homeless families with children, and 1,644 units of transitional housing for homeless single adults. HELP USA's housing models include transitional housing for homeless adults, families, victims of domestic violence, and veterans; and permanent supportive housing for formerly homeless, low-income, and special-needs adults and families, including veterans. HELP USA is also a provider of social services targeted to residents in its housing programs as well as members of the communities we serve. HELP USA's programs currently serve more than 23,000 homeless and low-income individuals annually and have helped over 375,000 men, women, and children over the past 30 years. We converted a program called, Veterans Outreach Project to a Veterans Aftercare Program (contracted dollar amount increased from 225K to 255K, and the change was to offer clinical services to formerly homeless veterans). A new Robin Hood program was started, called New Beginnings in April 2017. This program provides clinical services to young Head of Household (18-24) after terminating services with Homebase (350K). Finally, a third Homebase program was started after being awarded a new contract (143K). This program started October 1, 2017. Transitional housing During 2017, HELP USA operated 2,685 units of transitional housing and served over 11,400 homeless persons in family and individual transitional housing programs. These programs offered safe, service-rich residential environments to the homeless residents and worked with the residents to achieve employment and permanent housing. B. Permanent affordable and supportive housing During 2017, HELP USA operated 1,076 units of permanent affordable and supportive housing at 18 residences across the United States. In these programs, HELP USA housed families and individuals who were formerly homeless, at risk of homelessness, living with disabilities such as serious mental illness. C. Non-residential social and supportive services to individuals and families who are homeless, at risk of homelessness, previously homeless, or low income. During 2017, HELP USA provided non-residential social and supportive services to over 13,000 individuals and members of families who were homeless, at risk of homelessness or low income. These services included homelessness prevention, rapid re-housing, case management services and employment services.
