Grantees (U.S. and non-U.S.) are also required to enter into a detailed written grant agreement that governs the use of grant funds and includes financial and narrative reporting requirements, which may include heightened "expenditure responsibility" restrictions and reporting requirements for those grantees that are not 501(c)(3) public charities. Grantee reporting under the grant agreement is reviewed and approved by program and grants management staff, and these approvals are documented. The grantee's written reporting under the grant agreement is frequently supplemented by meetings, phone conversations and emails between HUA and grantee staff, and may include visits by HUA staff to grantees when appropriate. Form 990, Part III, Line 3: Ceased Conducting or Significant Changes To Services Supply Chain Solutions: We raise awareness about the existence of forced labor abuses in corporate supply chains, heighten corporate accountability, and work with corporations to discover and implement new policies and tools that can mitigate their risk of enabling forced labor. Peacebuilding: We work to enhance the power of local and national actors to better prevent conflict and promote lasting solutions to cycles of violence, while working with others to shift the peacebuilding system. We build partnerships with innovators and influencers to promote greater discussion and dialogue on how we can transform peacebuilding practices. Humanity United Actions other programmatic spending focused on capacity building and institutional support for non-profit institutions dedicated to advancing human rights, international peace, and victims' rights. Form 990, Part VI, Line 11b: Form 990 Review Process The process followed for review of the Form 990 is to distribute it prior to the Board of Trustees meeting for independent review by the Board members. At the Board meeting, the Form 990 is presented and any questions that arise are discussed and addressed. Form 990, Part VI, Line 12c: Explanation of Monitoring and Enforcement of Conflicts Humanity United Action monitors and enforces its conflict of interest policy by annually gathering from the trustees, officers and key employees all potential conflicts of interests and requiring all other employees to proactively disclose any conflicts of interest as they arise. The policy outlines a process by which Humanity United Action evaluates and protects against undue influence by any person who may have a conflict of interest. The policy also outlines a process to be undertaken if there is a potential violation of the policy. Finally, the Board reviews the policy and its administration on a periodic basis. Form 990, Part VI, Line 19: Other Organization Documents Publicly Available Humanity United Action's governing documents, conflict of interest policy and financial statements are available to the public upon request. Form 990, Part VII, Section A - Cost Sharing Agreement Humanity United Action is party to a Cost Sharing Agreement with Humanity United, a 501(c)(3) private foundation, pursuant to which Humanity United provides certain services, office space and personnel to Humanity United Action on a cost-reimbursement basis. Humanity United is an unrelated organization for purposes of Form 990.
