With our inaugural list in 1992, the Trust highlighted 14 threatened resources across the state an extensive and ambitious undertaking for the then all-volunteer organization. Of those 14 resources listed in 1992, seven are identified as saved although in most cases, it took many years of advocacy to achieve that status. 25 years later, our 2017 Most Endangered List featured six historic resources from across the state each facing a unique preservation challenge. For the first time, we held our annual Vintage Washington fundraiser in May and used it to announce our 2017 List as well as celebrate 25 years of success stories. The event was held in the National Register-listed Seminary Building at Saint Edward State Park in Kenmore itself a success story. Over the course of the year, we have been closely involved with local stakeholders in determining a positive preservation outcome. In one case, collaborative support resulted in scuttling a plan to construct a processing facility as in-fill development on the Weyerhaeuser Campus in Federal Way. Although the long-term future of the historic headquarters building is not assured, increased portions of the surrounding cultural landscape will remain intact thanks to a $250,000 appropriation from the legislature for acquisition of open space on the campus.Through our 2017 Sivinski Fund, the Washington Trust continued to provide modest but meaningful grants to assist with local preservation projects around the state. $11,000 was awarded to nine organizations across the state, including $2,000 awarded to the Thorp Mill Town Historic Preservation Society to stabilize deteriorated structural columns in the basement of the c. 1883 mill. Recipients of the 2017 Sivinski Fund grant awards were publicly announced in December 2016 at the Trust's annual Holiday Benefit held at the Stimson-Green Mansion.In April of 2017, we held our 7th annual RevitalizeWA conference in Ellensburg where the 275 registered attendees enjoyed three days of educational workshops, tours, and opportunities to learn from and connect with peers. Included among the attendees was the Trust's first cohort of PreserveWA Fellows. This distinguished group of students and young professionals was selected through a competitive process to attend RevitalizeWA free of charge as part of our initiative to bring fresh and diverse voices to the conference and our preservation network. Fellows were also paired with a mentor, selected specifically to match their interests and career objectives, to meet with at the conference and potentially thereafter. RevitalizeWA 2017 was our largest conference to date thanks in part to the Ellensburg Downtown Association for serving as our local hosts.In July of 2017, we held our sixth-annual Youth Heritage Project in Tacoma and Gig Harbor with a focus on maritime heritage. The Washington Trust has been a strong voice of support for the designation of Washington's saltwater coast as a National Maritime Heritage Area, a move which would bolster efforts to convey the region's historic and cultural significance. For their final projects, students worked in groups to complete videos that made the case for designation and presented them at the concluding Town Hall. With generous funding from the National Park Service, the Washington State Department of Archaeology & Historic Preservation, and 4Culture Sustained Support, among others, we again offered this program free of charge to both students and teachers.In 2017, we continued to implement capital improvements focused on replacing the domestic water supply system in our landmark headquarters Stimson-Green Mansion. We renovated two public bathrooms on the second floor and a tenant's bathroom on the third floor. We also completed additional piping in the basement in anticipation of future phases. The project was accomplished with minimal impact to historic material and was contained within each bathroom space.
