In the employment unit, we provided 6,429 hours of direct instruction to students. Staff provided the following classes to teach employment skills: Vocational Preparation, Job Keepers, and Career Choices. We were able to place students in 22 internships in 2017. These internships are jobs in the community but the wages are paid by ScenicView Academy. We were successful in placing over 28 students in jobs in the community. 1129427 Clinical services includes individual and group psychotherapy services, and recreational therapy services. The vision of clinical services is that self-knowledge and connectedness empowers individuals to change their world. Our mission is to provide opportunities for individuals with Autism Spectrum disorders and other learning disabilities to increase emotional, social, and cognitive skills that lead to a more successful interdependent life. In the clinical unit, we provided 2,755 hours of direct instruction to students. Employees in the clinical unit presented at and attended various conferences in Utah. Two clinical staff member conducted our first ever two day training on Social Steps. Clinical interns assisted in creating Dialectical Behavior Therapy(DBT) binder that included handouts and worksheets. Once the binders were created the DBT training was provided to all clinical staff. 1045021 In the residential unit, we provided 7,971 hours of direct instruction to students in the area of personal care, nursing, benefits, budgeting, on and off campus housing and independent living skills development. During 2017, 35 new students were admitted and all were supported by staff in the residential unit. New transportation processes were developed and implemented by residential staff, these changes have led to students getting bus passes and utilizing public transportation. Upon hire employees are required to read the staff manual which contains the ""Conflict of Interest"" policy. Scenicview Academy recently reviewed the staff manual with staff since it made major updates. Employees are expected to notify their supervisor of any outside work. The administration team discusses whether or not there is any conflict between the employee's other job and SVA's job. If there were to be a conflict, SVA would ask the employee to choose between the two jobs. If there is determined to be a conflict at any point in the decision making process, that employee would be told they are not participating in the decision making process. The educational and enrichment units served over 90 students. Educational staff assisted 8 students to pass college entrance exams. Our library had over 1,000 items checked out in 2017 and was staffed entirely by our students. Educational staff started a new class focused on Educational Exploration. This class is taught to all incoming new students. As part of this class students are taken on a tour of the local technical college. Educational staff presented at various conferences in Utah. Twelve current and former students had their work chosen to be displayed in UVUs Melisa Nellesen Autism Center. Students and staff participated in Wellness Walks to increase health awareness. Related revenues were $769,154 and related expenses were $512,351.
