In addition to facing major personal challenges, the young people we serve often lack knowledge and information about the many in-demand jobs available in the DC region and how to obtain them. Many fast-growing careers in our region do not require a four-year college degree. Our present education system, centered on four-year college, is not well-adapted to the realities of the contemporary DC job market or the needs of the thousands of young adults who seek a practical education as a means to a fulfilling career. Through our program activities, New Futures serves youth and young adults in the DC Metro Area seeking life-changing educational and career opportunities. New Futures helps our Scholars get rewarding careers in fields such as health science, information technology, education, hospitality and tourism, STEM, human services and many more. Form 990, Part III, Line 1 New Futures provides a practical yet innovative program of scholarships, career education services, and support to low-income DC-area young people pursuing shorter-term post-secondary educational opportunities toward fulfilling careers. In close collaboration with our 14 Community Partners, New Futures provides a broad range of services that focus on assisting local young people to obtain associate degrees, professional certificates and other shorter-term post-secondary educations that lead relatively quickly and inexpensively to meaningful and well-paying careers. New Futures empowers the youth we serve to realize their potential and achieve financial stability. We bridge information, education and workforce gaps to ensure a long-lasting impact, both for the young people we support and our broader community. New Futures is a leader in the DC area post-secondary education and workforce development spaces. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 11b All officers reviewed the entire return and inquired on any issues of the CPA/tax preparer before signing/filing of the return. The 990 was then distributed to the full board prior to filing with the IRS.
