In 2019 we will add an additional 8 locations to this program and also pilot this program at a Elementary School in Madison County with initial funding from a private donor. Double Up Food Bucks: The Fair Food Network in Michigan developed this program and Bountiful Cities is the Lead Agent to pilot and implement this program that the Asheville/Buncombe Food Policy Council organized. This program allows customers who have SNAP/EBT to earn 1:1 matching dollar spent on local produce at participating sites, up to $20/day per customer. These matching dollars can then be spent on any produce at any time. As the pilot project there were two grocery store who participated and during this phase over 600 folks signed up for the program. At the end of 2018 the program will be handed off to Mountain Wise to continue and grow throughout the counties of Western North Carolina. Asheville/Buncombe Community Garden Network: The network supports over 36 Community Gardens in Asheville/Buncombe County.
