Houston Hospice was the first in Houston and one of the first in the country to provide specialized pediatric hospice care through its Butterfly program, which addresses the unique needs of children from birth to age eighteen. Families also receive bereavement support and a specialized Wings program that addresses the bereavement needs of children. Houston Hospice is accredited by the Community Health Accreditation Partner, Inc. (CHAP) and provides services through its main office and its 37 bed inpatient facility located in the Texas Medical Center and two alternate delivery sites in Northwest Houston and in El Campo, TX. In 2018, 2,455 terminally ill patients were served by the organization with charity care and other non-reimbursed revenue totaling 4.4%. Of this, the inpatient unit served 1,057 patients with 8,096 days of care.
