Conference events and opportunities included 300 sessions, short lectures, two CE symposia, 22 non-CE product theaters, podium and poster presentations, annual regional meetings, interest forums, networking and discussions on current national, state and local legislative, regulatory and practice issues affecting nurse practitioners. AANP's legislative team represents nurse practitioners (NPs) and their patients on critical issues related to licensure, access to care, patient safety, health care reform, reimbursement, and other concerns at all policy levels. In addition to advocating on issues that impact NPs and their patients, AANP represents NPs on national committees and in health organizations. The majority of AANP's grants are used to fund research and education. AANP offers more than 180 continuing education activities and develops and distributes important health care resource tools for both providers and their patients.
