Three complete new satellite monitoring systems were purchased, two of which will be place on guzzler sites that a scheduled to be installed on the Marino Corps Base at 29 Palms in January 2019. A date for installation of the third system has yet to be determined; however, it is planned to be used at another guzzler site in the 29 Palms base, Due to military operations the base biologists can only allow access to perform this work a few days a year and the Base Commander must approve the work so scheduling is ofter a complex and time consuming process.</DescriptionProgramSrvcAccomTxt>

<DescriptionProgramSrvcAccomTxt>WATER HAULING TO BIG GAME GUZZLERS DURING THE CRUCIAL DRY SUMMER MONTHS: The Big Horn Sheep are dependent on the man made water sources due to the fact that natural water sources such as springs have been diminished by ground water pumping and other types of human consumption as well as record drought conditions in 2017. Highways and other developments have also disrupted the historical migration routes use by the Sheep to find water during the dry summer months. Although volunteers ofter use their own vehicles to haul water to remote guzzler locations, the South Interstate 40 Big Game Guzzler can only be filled from the collection site in the median between the East- and West-bound lanes of Interstate 40. This requires coordination with Cal-Trans and a local water delivery company to supply 4,000 gallons of water to the site. the drinker itself is downhill from the highway and placed in a specific location so as to eliminate the need for the Sheep to cross the highway to find water.</DescriptionProgramSrvcAccomTxt>

The organization was adopted a plan to install these tanks wherever possible including new Guzzler sites as well and any existing sites where tank replacement is necessary. These tanks have no moving parts and require very little maintenance. Two of these tanks will be installed at the Creosote Project on the 29 Palms Marine Corps Base in January of 2019 and the four more are scheduled to be installed on the 29 Palms Base at the Catclaw and Fishhook guzzler sites as soon as the military training schedule allows and permission from the Base Commander is obtained by the on-site base biologist.</DescriptionProgramSrvcAccomTxt>

<DescriptionProgramSrvcAccomTxt>STATE LANDS COMMISSION / STATE SCHOOL LANDS: Around the turn of the 19th century, the entire State of California was surveyed and in every land township a parcel of land was set aside and control given to the State of California to be used for schools. Over 100 years have passed and some of the parcels of land have been surrounded by designated wilderness and can never be devloped or inhabited by man. Some of the remote wildneress are in habitat well suited for Big Horn Sheep and the Organization, in conjunction with the Department if Fish and Wildlife, developed a plan to lease from the State Lands Commission portions of the parcels for the purpose of installing Big Game Guzzlers. As a part of applicatiion process to lease these sections of land, a cultural resource study is required in order to make sure no cultural or historic sites or resources are disturbed. This is a complex process as all 70 proposed sites have to be visited and researched. The organization has contracted with Dr. Alan Garfinkel Gold of Bakersfield to perform this work and provide study results to the State Lands Commission application. Dr. Vernon C Bleich, Biologist and well documented authority of desert Big Horn Sheep was also contracted with to review and enhance Dr. Gold's findings prior to submitting the land use application to the State Lands Commission.</DescriptionProgramSrvcAccomTxt>
