Our data collection and analysis improve the collective understanding of the conditions in which children and families live, the risk factors that impact their well-being, the presence or absence of resources and assets at the community level and captures and shares data on the lived experience of children and families through participatory research. This work informed the publication of our Community Risk Ranking, Keeping Track of New York Citys Children data book, two participatory research reports on the North Shore of Staten Island and Northern Manhattan, and year-round training offered to foundations and non-profits on our data resources and how data can be used to inform policy, program development, and budget needs.In terms of civic engagement, CCC trained new child advocates through our Community Leadership Course and YouthAction NYC reaching hundreds of adults and youth through the courses, peer to peer trainings, and offering volunteers opportunities to participate in state and city advocacy meetings, educational forums, as well as qualitative research. Finally, CCC disseminates research products and information on our advocacy priorities through blog articles, social media posts, and a regular presence in the local and regional press. These efforts brought our data and advocacy messages to more New Yorkers as CCCs social media presence grew 30% across all platforms, we placed more than 50 blog articles over the course of the year and achieved more than 80 media hits to create a consistent drumbeat of coverage. 1117295 Program and Advocacy - CCCs leadership in Statewide and City coalitions, plus its renowned budgetary and legislative analysis and testimony, resulted in several critical victories that will improve the lives of children.CCC continued its leadership role in the Raise the Age NY Campaign and the Campaign for Children and was instrumental in the formation of the NYS Child Welfare Coalition and the Family Homelessness Coalition. We conducted ongoing analysis and assessment for both the City and State Budget and testified at 23 different State and City public hearings and met hundreds of times with State and local elected officials and their staff to discuss our core advocacy priorities.Our work informed the passage of a child welfare bill package that strengthened preventive services, the State KinGAP enhancement bill was signed into law by the Governor, and the federal Family First Act was included in a continuing resolution, and we also successfully fought off the State Budget cuts to child welfare. Our advocacy also informed the State and City investments of new money into initiatives supporting children and families who are homeless, and implementation needs tied to Raise the Age legislation. The Citys Budget included many of CCCs priorities, including funding for 23,000 middle school summer camp spots, and $16 million for elementary school afterschool. Finally, our advocacy made salary parity for early childhood educators a priority for the New York City Council, with several key Council Members becoming champions on this issue. 2772402 true true
