The series takes place at the Eugene and Marilyn Glick Indiana History Center. Talk of the Town is the annual fundraiser for Storytelling Arts of Indiana that takes place in April and features one of the most popular storytellers. The evening includes storytelling, dessert bar of cupcakes and cookies along with beer and wine. After the intermission, audience members has a chance to donate at various levels to help us with our mission. Before the Curtain is an add-on experience for 50 individuals who want to pay a small additional cost to mingle with the storyteller, eat appetizers and drink beer and wine. Sharing Hoosier History Through Stories Annually, Storytelling Arts of Indiana and the Indiana Historical Society commissions an Indiana storyteller to research, develop and premiere a story based on Indiana History. The premiere takes place at the Eugene and Marilyn Glick Indiana History Center. The story is then retold at least four additional times throughout the state.If These Walls Could Tell Annually, Storytelling Arts of Indiana and Indiana Landmarks commissions an Indiana storyteller to research, develop and premiere a story based on the building that is awarded the annual Cook Cup for outstanding restoration in the state. The story is told twice once at the Indiana Landmarks Center and once at the site.Frank Basile Emerging Stories Fellowship annually Storytelling Arts of Indiana awards a fellowship to an Indiana storyteller to develop a 60 minute story for adults. The premiere takes place at the Eugene and Marilyn Glick Indiana History Center. Ghost Stories at Crown Hill Cemetery Seven Indiana storytellers share scary stories from 730 to 10 p.m. Before Ghost Stories, we offer anadd on experience, the RIP Reception for an additional cost. Individuals who attend the RIP, eat, drink beer and wine, play trivia, listen to live music and participate in a live auction of decorated pumpkins. Total attendance for these programs during the 2018 - 19 Season 2421 Form 990, Part III, Line 4 Outreach ProgramsAs I Recall Storytelling Guilds These monthly meetings take place at three sites, The Glendale Library, the Hancock County Public Library and the Hamilton East Public Library where elders gather to recall, develop and share their family stories. Free Event. Indy Story Slam In collaboration with IndyFringe, individuals gather after work to share stories on based on a monthly theme at the IndyFringe Basile Theatre. This ticketed event includes appetizers and cash bar. Storytelling in the Parks Storytelling Arts of Indiana secures funding from the Summer Youth Fund to present two performances at 15 day camp sites throughout Marion County during the month of July. Weekly Storytelling at Riley Hospital for Children Storytelling Arts of Indiana sends storytellers weekly to tell stories at the bedside of the patients. The storytellers work in pairs and move from bedside to bedside 50 weeks a year. Form 990, Part III, Line 4 Outreach ProgramsAnnual Liars Contest In collaboration with the Indiana State Fair, Storytelling Arts of Indiana hosted a liars contest on opening night of the Indiana State Fair. Winners are selected in two categories youth up to 17 years of age and adults.First, Second and Third place awards of cash and ribbons to the winners.The Life Stories Project is an oral history project that records the stories of everyday people. The stories are archived in the oral history collection at the Indiana Historical Society. Two Truths and a Lie. A storytelling activity that takes place in the Indiana State Parks during the summer months. This year we presented at Pokagon State Park and McCormicks Creek State Park. Bill Harley performed at St. Pius School and the Ellettsville Public Library in April as part of our outreach program. Total attendance for the outreach programs during the 2018 to 2019 Season was 2294.
