Sports and especially team sports impacts character development and aids youth in raising self esteem, helps in the application of effective communication skills, teaches development of conflict resolution, and provides the wisdom necessary to work effectively with others by utilizing their individual abilities as part of a team. This past season we sponsored five economically disadvantaged students who were fully scholarshipped and five others paid 50 percent of costs. Program fees for all participants are substantially reduced in comparison to other VB clubs in order to benefit economically disadvantaged students, thus giving them an opportunity to participate. Mini Club at season end consisting of 10 teams had tuition reduced so they could participate and afford to go to AAU championships. There is a process whereby the family must provide information from paystubs, expense records and tax returns to the board for evaluation. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11b The draft done by the accountant is emailed for review to all board members. Once approved it is filed by the accountant who is also the treasurer. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12c The board meets 2 to 4 times annually and any changes to the status of any board members involvement with the organization is reviewed. The accountant and bookkeeping assistant enter all data weekly and monthly into the QuickBooks accounting program and any discrepancies or concerns are reviewed immediately and if necessary taken to the board members for review. All compensation are agreed on by the board and done after a review of market data on comparable compensation in the community.
