We contract with 20 local school districts and serve approximately 45 - 50 students annually on our Shoreline campus. Our curriculum is aligned with the Common Core State Standards with a focus on building the English grammar and reading skills critical to learning any subject. It is the Organization's policy and in accordance with donor restrictions that the historical dollar amount of a donor-restricted endowment fund be preserved. In the absence of donor restrictions, the net appreciation on donor-restricted endowment fund is available for current operations. With few exceptions, the Organization is subject to federal and state income tax examinations by tax authorities for the prior three years. The Organization recognizes income tax related interest in interest expense and penalties in operating expenses. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11b The Form 990 is reviewed, in draft form, by the organization's Treasurer, Chief Operating Officer, and Head of School; then passed along to the full Board of Trustees prior to filing. Staff address any questions that come up at any point in the process. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12c NWDHH has a written conflict of interest policy which board members review annually. The policy requires disclosure of interest, relationships and holdings that could potentially result in a conflict of interest. Board members are also requested to disclose, on an ongoing basis, any potential conflicts of interests in an organizational transaction or decisions which would affect themselves, their family members, employer, or associates; and may not participate in discussion or voting on such matters. Staff members are also required to adhere to the conflict of interest policy. The compensation budget for the whole organization is submitted to the Board of Trustees for approval, with market data informing the salaries of Leadership Team members.
