When complete, the Ridge Trail will extend 550 miles and connect over 75 parks and open space preserves in the 9-county Bay Area. At the end of 2018, 375 miles were dedicated. In 2018, the Council helped open 7 miles of trail to mountain bikes, re-signed 350 miles of trail and improved drainage on over 12 miles of trail. The Council hosted trail events all around the region, including Ridge to Bridge in Marin and San Francisco, a 5-day East Bay Hills Thru Hike and Ride, and the REI - Ridge Trail Service Day. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 15 The Executive Director's salary was originally set in 2006 when the Council set about recruiting and hiring a new Executive Director. A Board subcommittee reviewed salary and benefit packages for similar nonprofits, and identified a salary range. The Executive Committee of the Board conducts an annual review and decides annual salary (and bonus if any) within the approved budget. It is documented in minutes of a closed session of the Executive Committee. Form 990, Part VI, Section C, Line 19 Documents are available by mail upon request. Our bookkeeper failed to file the request for extension Form 8868 but the Form 990 will be filed by the normal extended deadline, as it has been every year. When the oversight was discovered an attempt to file the Form 8868 was made but the IRS rejected the extension because the filing was after the original filing date.
