Popular programs include the annual Study Weekend, with record attendance this year in the Columbia River Gorge; and Botany Washington, organized in partnership with the University of Washington Herbarium at the Burke Museum and held this year on the Long Island peninsula. Again in partnership with the UW Herbarium, a new plant list database was introduced that provides public access to the Society's nearly 700 lists of native plants found on trails and other locations around the state. 46320 Native Plant Stewardship Program: The Native Plant Stewardship programs trains volunteers so they have the knowledge and abilities to complete native plant restoration projects in their communities. In 2018, a 100-hour Master Native Plant Steward program was completed with the City of Shoreline, with 27 graduates, who committed to projects in Shoreline parks. Several chapters also award grants in their local areas. Six conservation grants were awarded in six different counties. Three education grants funded printing of wildflower brochures in Wenatchee and native plant garden projects in Spokane and Mercer Island. Three research grants were awarded to study invasive beach grasses, inventory lichens in Benton County, and survey native plants in Whitman County.
