Under this guidance, the Society may recognize the tax benefit from an uncertain tax position only if it is more likely than not that the tax position will be sustained on examination by taxing authorities, based on the technical merits of the position. The tax benefits recognized in the financial statements from such a position are measured based on the largest benefit that has a greater than 50% likelihood of being realized upon ultimate settlement. The guidance on accounting for uncertainty in income taxes also addresses de-recognition, classification, interest and penalties on income taxes, and accounting in interim periods.Management evaluated the Society tax positions and concluded that the Society had taken no uncertain tax positions that require adjustment to the financial statements to comply with the provisions of this guidance. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 5: Community Education Program: The Program offers live presentations throughout the US as well as online education via webinars to heart failure patients, caregivers and the general public. HFSA has prepared a series of standardized educational presentations designed to help patients learn to live successfully with heart failure. The presentations are provided by heart failure specialists. They are developed to be informative and to provide practical information on a specific topic that is useful to both patients and their families. Each presentation offers time to ask questions of the expert speaker. HFSA partners with patient-based organizations to bring these presentations to the local communities. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 6: OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 7: Review Course:incorporates results of new research studies, increased focus on practical management recommendations, addresses issues encountered in practice, adds case studies and provides breakout sessions in areas of special interest. Intended for cardiologists, internists, nurses, pharmacists, pharmacologists, and other health professionals with a special interest in heart failure. this program will use evidence-based presentation including guideline based practice recommendations. Breakout and case study sessions focus on practical management issues in heart failure. Approximately 130 persons attended in 2019. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 8: International Initiative: Work included the Trilateral International Consensus Conference, numerous joint annual meeting sessions with other international cardiology societies, establishment of an international membership at HFSA, and collaboration meetings at the HFSA Annual Scientific Meeting with numerous leaders of international cardiology societies.
