Accordingly, these funds are managed with disciplined, longer-term investment objectives and strategies designed to meet cash flow and spending requirements. Management of the assets is designed to attain the maximum total return consistent with acceptable and agreed upon levels of risk. The Association benchmarks its portfolio performance against a number of commonly used indices. The original donor agreement outlines a spending policy of appropriating a distribution annually up to 5% of the endowment fund's average market value over the previous 36 months.
