City Lights is a daily arts and culture program that provides a view into Atlantas rich creative achievements. Local news reporting is a major emphasis of the station. Programming also includes classical music as well as jazz and blues programming. In addition, there are three podcasts. Buried Truths, a national award-winning podcast, investigates stories of injustice, resilience and racism in the American South. Political Breakfast podcast is hosted by a veteran Atlanta political reporter who facilitates conversations between political strategists from the right and left about a broad variety of timely issues on a biweekly basis. And Bottom of the Map podcast explores Southern hip-hop through conversations between a music journalist and a hip-hop scholar. Accordingly, no provision for federal or state income taxes has been recorded on the accompanying financial statements. In addition, AETC qualifies for the charitable contribution deduction under Section 170(b)(1)(A) and has been classified as an organization that is not a private foundation under Section 509(a)(2). As part of Junior Achievements 3DE program, PBA coached students through an intensive educational project focused on the media industry. PBA partnered with the Atlanta Science Festival to give younger audiences an opportunity to experience science first-hand through Ask a Scientist. Public Broadcasting Atlanta is leading an initiative to bring free, one-to-one, on-demand homework help to metro Atlanta powered by the Tutor.com system.
