<Desc>Narrative Change:Native Americans in Philanthropy (NAP) seeks to change mainstream narratives of Native Americans dominated by harmful stereotypes and racist depictions through centering Native leaders and voices, supported by a cross-cultural network of influencers who leverage their own visibility and platforms to spread indigenous people's messages and advocate for our priorities. We emphasize that Native issues and communities are intertwined with everyone's and that change does include national reckoning with a history of colonization and genocide within a frame of truth, healing and reconciliation. In this spirit, NAP recognizes that truth-telling from an indigenous perspective empowers Native communities and re-centers our voices, and that non-Natives also need to feel empowered to become allies and partners. We have been targeting the philanthropic sector to deepen the cultural competence of philanthropic organizations in order to further strategic grantmaking and an opportunity to learn how to close the resource gap empowered with understanding of the inner workings of philanthropy and an indigenized model of reciprocal giving, receiving and sharing through our Truth and Healing Movement. NAP in collaboration with close philanthropic and advocacy partners created a Native Vote video to engage Indian Country about the importance of civic engagement. NAP also supported the Native Power Building Summit which was a historic event that brought together Native people to learn about movement building, strategy, and ways to support those who will be the voices for our communities. It was a precursor to the largest number of Native American women being elected in state and federal offices.</Desc>

<Desc>Web Portal:Native Americans in Philanthropy (NAP) partnered with Candid, formerly Foundation Center, and GuideStar to develop a vision for a multi-content web portal featuring deep information about philanthropic funding related to and by Native Americans. The portal filled with grants data, news stories, research, funder insights, and other information will enable users to determine what funding to Native people and issues currently looks like, research best practices in inclusive and strategic grantmaking rooted in Native values, and learn about Native history and issues as critical context for decision-making. It will also give us funding data related to trends over time which is critical information to our field. Our portal was launched in late 2019. It comprehensive online resource for a Native-centered philanthropy community and be the first web portal to provide real time data specific to Native communities ever.</Desc>

<Desc>#Generation Indigenous:Native Americans in Philanthropy (NAP) in collaboration with The Minneapolis Foundation created the #GenIndigenous Response Fund, a pooled fund to support Native-led non-profit organizations who support Native youth organizing and activism across communities. This response fund bridges funders and organizers to support organizing efforts and a collective commitment to systemic change and social justice in Indigenous communities. Established in 2016 and housed at The Minneapolis Foundation, the #GenIndigenous Response Fund was inspired by the Generation Indigenous Youth Leadership Development Initiative and the activism and organizing by youth at Standing Rock to bring attention to the need for protecting land, water and sovereignty. Grantees are using the funds awarded to focus on strategic communications, education, workforce development, juvenile justice, resilience, traditional knowledge, sustainability, environmental justice, health, trauma and healing responsive funding to support youth organizing and activism across communities. This Response Fund bridges funders and organizers to support organizing efforts and a collective commitment to systemic change and social justice in Indigenous communities. In addition, NAP continues to engage Native youth and organizations to further support the important visioning and conversations that need to happen and to keep Generation Indigenous moving forward.</Desc>

We brought together the NVR grantees and #GenI grantees as a cohort to participate in a four part capacity building webinar series using key components from our Art of Reciprocity curriculum. Regional Convenings:Native held several regional convenings around out Truth and Healing Movement specifically around education philanthropy around Native culture and context. We also hosted several regional convening utilizing an interactive experiential learning activity called The Blanket Exercise that is designed to be transformative. Planning for our Regional Summit began right where NAP began over 30 years ago in Chicago where we planned an amazing agenda and honored our founders.</Desc>
