Our data collection and analysis improve the collective understanding of the conditions in which children and families live, the risk factors that impact their well-being, the presence or absence of resources and assets at the community level and captures and shares data on the lived experience of children and families through participatory research. This work informed the publication of our Community Risk Ranking, Keeping Track of New York Citys Children data book, a draft report on participatory research in Elmhurst Corona, and year-round trainings offered to foundations, non-profits, and New Yorkers at large on our data resources and how data can be used to inform policy, program development, and budget needs.In terms of civic engagement, CCC trained new child advocates through our Community Leadership Course and YouthAction NYC reaching hundreds of adults and youth through the courses, peer to peer trainings, and offering volunteers opportunities to participate in state and city advocacy meetings, educational forums, as well as qualitative research. Finally, CCC disseminated research products and information on our advocacy priorities through blog articles, social media posts, and a regular presence in the local and regional press. These efforts brought our data and advocacy messages to more New Yorkers as CCCs social media presence grew 6% across all platforms, with more than 850 new followers, while we placed more than 40 blog articles over the course of the year and achieved more than 128 media hits to create a consistent drumbeat of coverage. 1065700 Program and Advocacy CCCs leadership in Statewide and City coalitions, plus its renowned budgetary and legislative analysis and testimony, resulted in several critical victories that will improve the lives of children. CCC continued its leadership role in the Raise the Age NY Campaign, the Campaign for Children, the NYS Child Welfare Coalition and the Family Homelessness Coalition. We conducted ongoing analysis and assessment for both the City and State Budget and testified at 23 different State and City public hearings and met hundreds of times with State and local elected officials and their staff to discuss our core advocacy priorities. Our work informed the introduction and passage of four pieces of state legislation that strengthened the child welfare and juvenile justice systems. Our work also informed the drafting and introduction of new bills designed to better address family homelessness at the state and local level. Our state and local advocacy resulted in budgets that protected and increased resources that promote youth justice, educational equity, maternal health, census outreach, and adequate representation of all New Yorkers. The support secured at the state level included Raise the Age (RTA) implementation funds, continued diversion and respite resources to protect at-risk youth (PINS), increased education aid, a rate increase for some EI services, an initiative to increase access to college for foster youth and funding for Census 2020 outreach. Support secured at the city level included a pathway to salary parity for the citys early education workforce, social workers in school with high rates for homeless students, 4,000 after-school slots for elementary school students and funds for summer programming for middle school students, as well as Breakfast in the Classroom and public health needs.
