HACER identifies research needs and delivers quality research products that strengthen the Latino communities of Minnesota. We do so through collaborative research efforts that are timely, methodologically sound and culturally appropriate. HACER continued partnering with BlueCross and BlueShield of Minnesota to develop a research project focused on eating/cooking habits among Latino Communities in Southern Minnesota, in order to generate specific programs oriented to have incidence in lowering obesity and diabetes rates among those communities. HACER also conducted other research projects with the support of the University of Minnesota and other foundations. This and another research projects completed our Class of Research. 36357 36357 HACER developed the Leaders of Tomorrow Academy, with the purpose of engaging with Latino youth, 13-17 years of age, and invited them to stay at Macalester College for 4 days and 3 nights. Along that time, students interacted with diverse Latino leaders, in arts, businesses, education, philanthropy. nonprofit sector, and more, in identifying their goals and plans to reach them out. Another leadership projects completed the Leadership Class for HACER. 44668 44668 HACER designed and completed a series of activities related to Outreach for the Census counting, with support of the Saint Paul and Minnesota Foundations, and other resources. We developed other programs related to our Outreach Class at HACER, connecting resources and information to the Latino Communities in Minnesota. 45644 45644 HACER established evaluation projects in collaboration with Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota and other organizations in Southern Minnesota, to follow up their programs, and services provided to immigrant businesses owners in the region. This is a continuation of the AAMBP (Austin Area Minority Business Project) for its 5th year.
