In 2019 Oasis screened 412 LGBTQIA+ immigrants for immigration relief. We filed asylum for 154 LGBTQIA+ individuals and provided continued representation for over 476 LGBTQIA+ asylum applicants whose cases are still pending. Oasis won asylum for 172 LGBTQIA+ clients, the rest of the cases filed remain pending. Our approval rate remains at 100%. 39478 0 52918 Permanent residency is the next important step toward citizenship for those who have won asylum. In 2019 Oasis increased our capacity to assist LGBTQIA+ immigrants, representing 132 new applicants for permanent residency and we received 69 residency approvals on pending cases. The remaining cases are still pending 25298 0 11895 Naturalization: Our naturalization program focuses on helping lawful permanent residents become citizens so that they can become full participants in our communities. In 2019 Oasis represented 22 new clients in their citizenship applications and received 25 approvals. The remaining cases are still pending 30307 15164 Oasis focuses largely on affirmative asylum and follow-up services such as asylee relative petitions, residency, and citizenship. We do periodically provide other immigration legal services to the LGBTQIA+ community as well. These services have included fiance petitions, family petitions, Temporary Protected Status, travel documents, applications under the Violence Against Women Act, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, and other immigration services. Oasis provide holistic client support services to our clients as well as direct legal representation. This program supports our clients through the difficult process of applying for asylum and connects them to the social, emotional, and legal support they need throughout their case and once they are granted legal status. As such, he recuses himself from any discussions or decisions involving Ms. Roberts' compensation or role within the organization. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12c Oasis Legal Services monitors and enforces its conflict of interest policy by requiring annual disclosure of any actual or potential conflict of interest of its officers and directors. They each complete a form that is kept on file. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 15 Executive Director Caroline Robert's salary was reviewed and approved by the Board of Directors in May of 2017. They used contemporaneous information about executive director pay for similar sized organizations in the San Francisco Bay Area. As such, he recuses himself from any discussions or decisions involving Ms. Roberts' compensation or role within the organization. i. Compensation for key employees was reviewed and approved by the Board of Directors in May of 2017. Form 990, Part IX, Line 16 In 2019 Oasis Legal Services subleased new office space. We continued to pay rent at our old office space when our original subtenant fell through. Paying double rent for six months was a one time cost that is reflected as expenses in the Occupancy line 16 which substantially increased our management costs. However, this one-time additional cost was covered by a generous grant from two Oasis donors.
