Schedule D, Part X, Line 2 The Association is a tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the IRC. The ALA/APA is exempt under Section 501(c)(6) of the IRC. These Section 501(c)(3) and Section 501(c)(6) organizations are taxed only on income classified as unrelated business income. The ALA/APA did not have any unrelated business income for the years ended August 31, 2019 and 2018. The Association has income derived from certain advertising activities and fringe benefits that have been determined to be unrelated business income. Unrelated business income is taxed in accordance with federal and state income tax regulations. The provision (recovery) for unrelated business income taxes was ($27,752) and $27,752 in 2019 and 2018, respectively. The tax years ended 2015, 2016 and 2017 are still open to audit for both federal and state purposes. Based on the evaluation of the Association's tax positions, management believes all positions taken would be upheld under an examination; therefore, no provision for the effects of uncertain tax positions has been recorded for the years ended August 31, 2019 and 2018.
