It also prepares Hebrew speakers, both Jewish and Arab, to be translation consultants and checkers. The IBLT draws from the expertise of premier local institutions while enhancing learning in the unique context of the Holy Land and its people. The goal of the Institute for Biblical Languages and Translation is to enable the training of sufficient consultants and mother tongue translators so that translation of the Old Testament can begin in every language by the year 2033.Although the worldwide pandemic created significant changes in our annual programming, we were able to pivot and focus on the development of a distance learning program by working closely with our partners. This new program, together with the residential program in Jerusalem, will enable us to serve many more translators and consultants globally to enable exponential multiplication of whole Bible translations.In 2020, despite the challenges presented by COVID-19, 27 students from 12 nations and 4 continents graduated from the School of Biblical Hebrew (SBH), and 21 of those students continued on for a Masters in Translation Consulting, joined online by translators from many nations.
