The HEAL Project works to prevent and end childhood sexual abuse (CSA) through healing the wounds of sexual oppression and embracing sexual liberation. 1 7000 0 Schedule I, Part I, Line 2 All grants are awarded after an application process that requires individuals or organizations to provide information on how they would use granted funds, demographic information, past work, a budget, SMART goals (specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, time-bound), and an assessment of risks and challenges. Applications are reviewed by staff, an Advisory Council of sexuality experts, and the Board of Directors, which use a set of written rubrics for each section of the application. Once winners are determined, funds are only paid out in full directly to 501(c)(3) organizations; individuals or groups that do not have a 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsor must sign fiscal sponsorship agreements with the Effing Foundation. The Foundation requires documentation for all purchases or reimbursements made using granted funds (quotes, invoices, and/or receipts) and these purchases must be accounted for in the project's budget. The Foundation follows up with grantees once to twice per year to check on project performance and collect impact data. Directors were instructed to read through the form and alert the submitter of any questions or concerns before submission. Affirmative consent from the Treasurer was required before submission. The President recused himself from discussion and voting on his compensation. The Board determined the President's compensation rate for this consulting work based on recommendation of the Executive Director, who based this recommendation on 1) Foundation's previous rate of pay for consultants doing similar work and 2) the amount of hours of work provided by the President.
