To achieve that goal, we have an Advance Care Planning coordinator who, in 2020, conducted 29 talks for community groups reaching 750 people. She conducted 24 professional trainings reaching over 1000 people. Because of the pandemic, all sessions were via Zoom after February. Kokua Mau is the coordinator for the national POLST program, an out of hospital medical order that documents patient's medical orders. Kokua Mau's website hosts the program. Kokua Mau does education and outreach for professionals and the public across the state, staffs the POLST Task Force, which provides leadership statewide, and serves on national committees. 68829 6880 Statewide network. Kokua Mau serves as a statewide network of organizations and individuals committed to improving care. We maintain a website, send regular newsletters to 1500 people, conduct monthly meetings and bi-monthly training sessions. Kokua Mau serves as a statewide resource to government, healthcare, education and private institutions in education, outreach and policy development to care for those with serious illness including advance care planning, palliative care and hospice care. During the pandemic, we switched to virtual meetings and trainings, with good success, and have uploaded all sessions to the website. We also hosted group sessions for professionals during the pandemic to share best practices and experiences. 60087 66000 Building Palliative Care. In 2020, Kokua Mau increased its focus on building palliative care in Hawaii. Kokua Mau helped to organize and put on a Palliative Care Summit in April 2020, which was sponsored by the Department of Health.
