<Desc>Arts through it AllCBCAs response to the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on the arts and creative sector was a through line in 2020. Immediately following the lockdowns in early March, CBCA compiled a resource list with relief funds, legal resources, support organizations, webinars and more to help artists, performers and cultural organizations navigate the challenges ahead. CBCA continued to grow and maintain that resource list. CBCA also hosted and co-presented numerous webinars on topics like PPP loan forgiveness, cash flow management and putting creative content online. CBCA convened a group of regional Cultural Partners to better communicate and coordinate the various relief efforts, advocacy initiatives and community updates. This group launched the Arts through it All campaign in April 2020 to encourage and facilitate public support for the arts. CBCA hosted and maintained that website and the assets for the public awareness campaign. In November, CBCA was the fiscal agent and administrator for a revived Arts through it All campaign focused on the holiday season. Through CARES Act funding, corporate sponsors, private foundations and local municipalities, the winter Arts through it All campaign featured TV spots, billboards, print and digital ads, a social media campaign and a new website. CBCA coordinated all the vendors, producers, graphics, website development and overall roll-out of this significant campaign.</Desc>

<Desc>Programs and TrainingBusiness for the Arts Awards salute exemplary partnerships between businesses and the arts. The annual awards luncheon in March celebrated innovative partnerships, generous philanthropy, creative businesses and stellar leadership across the state. In 2020, CBCA recognized eight outstanding organizations as a cohort of honorees and four individual leaders, including two awards connected to signature CBCA programs. Over 700 arts, civic, and business leaders attended the sold-out Business for the Arts Awards Luncheon, which was held a few days before the COVID lockdown. Guests enjoyed a variety of entertainment and live performances before and during the members and their employees. These included tickets to virtual events with Denver Film and Rainbow Militia circus, and outdoor in-person events at Denver Botanic Gardens and Colorado Railroad Museum. event, such as an aerial dancer, local rock band, student musical theatre ensemble, taiko drum and hip-hip collaboration, and a youth hip-hop dance troupe. This arts-infused event also included original artwork designed by a youth arts organization as table centerpieces, and each honoree received a one-of-a-kind bronze sculpture created by a disabled veteran artist. Colorado Attorneys for the Arts (CAFTA) is a legal referral service that connects income-qualified artists, cultural nonprofits and creative businesses statewide with pro bono legal assistance. CAFTA made 45 referrals connecting a creative client with a volunteer attorney. In 2020, CAFTA also introduced a referral option for potential clients who dont qualify for pro bono assistance based on their income. CAFTA made 26 educational presentations reaching 570 people. Many of those presentations were webinars that were recorded so people can access them later. CAFTA also provided a few in-person educational programs located outside the Denver metro area, including two full-day workshops in state-certified creative districts: Grand Junction and Telluride. CAFTA also offered attorney consultations and waived the administration fee during the summer in response to the negative impacts of the COVID pandemic on the creative industries. Leadership Arts is a unique nine-month training program that prepares people to serve on nonprofit boards and increase their civic engagement in the arts. Leadership Arts educates, inspires and equips professionals from all sectors to be effective community leaders. Expert speakers present on topics such as strategic planning, advocacy, governance, fundraising, legal issues and current issues in the arts. In September 2019, CBCA welcomed a class of 56 people, tied for their second largest class and the most competitive application process. This cohort met in-person for monthly sessions hosted at arts venues through March. Their April session was held virtually, and their graduation was postponed until July. In July 2020, CBCA hosted their graduation and the annual Board Fair over Zoom. Cultural nonprofit organizations were placed in virtual breakout rooms and Leadership Arts graduates were rotated through the rooms to meet the nonprofits and discuss volunteer opportunities. CBCA modified the program for the 2020-2021 cohort to include 16 virtual classes, instead of nine half-day sessions, all to be hosted over Zoom. This adjustment expanded the curriculum and enabled inclusion of statewide and national speakers. The virtual format also made the program accessible to participants outside the Denver metro area. In September 2020, CBCA welcomed a full cohort of 49 people, including two from Colorado Springs and one from Grand Junction. In 2016, the CBCA Board of Directors started the Deborah Jordy Leadership Arts Scholarship Fund. The 2020 cohort raised a record-breaking amount of money for the scholarship fund, which was matched by CBCAs board and community members. CBCA was able to offer a total of eleven full and partial scholarships to members of the Leadership Arts 2020-2021 class.Leadership Arts Alumni Network (LAAN) connects graduates of CBCAs Leadership Arts program to each other and various aspects of the arts community. In 2019, LAAN shifted their event series to focus on substantive learning and connections. Events included a discussion and hands-on animal encounter with the CEO of Denver Zoo, a webinar on strategic board recruiting, and a virtual performance and facilitated discussion on racial justice and equity. LAAN also continued to send a quarterly newsletter with updates on alumni achievements and available volunteer positions. Advancing Creatives is a new program that was launched in early 2020. Advancing Creatives offers professional development and business skills trainings to artists, performers, creative entrepreneurs, and artistic entities. Originally, CBCA had planned to launch this program with a limited series of 6-8 workshops. However, with the severe impact of the pandemic on the creative sector, it was necessary to quickly expand these offerings. CBCA has hosted or helped coordinate 20 of these webinars in 2020. Many of these webinars featured CBCA Member companies and were co-presented with arts partners, such as Art Students League of Denver, RedLine Contemporary Arts Center, RiNo Arts District, AIGA Colorado and Colorado Independent Venue Association. Most of these webinars were recorded and shared afterward to further expand their reach.</Desc>

<Desc>Membership ServicesNight At distributes complimentary tickets to cultural events to CBCA Member companies and their employees, which is a primary benefit for membership. Night At events offer access to diverse artistic opportunities, performances and exhibitions, while helping to build new audiences for local cultural organizations. With nearly all cultural organizations and arts events closed or canceled for most of 2020, CBCA got creative to still provide these opportunities to members and their employees. These included tickets to virtual events with Denver Film and Rainbow Militia circus, and outdoor in-person events at Denver Botanic Gardens and Colorado Railroad Museum. Live Lunch Lounge was a temporary program in summer and fall 2020 to provide more artistic outlets for CBCA Members and their employees, especially during a time of uncertainty, stress and isolation. Live Lunch Lounge was a series of bite-sized live virtual arts experiences with Colorado creatives and cultural groups. They were 30-minute creative mental breaks during lunch on the 2nd and 4th Friday of the month. Live Lunch Lounge events featured short theatre performances, drawing and creative writing exercises, dance classes and musical performances.</Desc>

<ExplanationTxt>Arts through it AllCBCAs response to the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on the arts and creative sector was a through line in 2020. CBCA coordinated all the vendors, producers, graphics, website development and overall roll-out of this significant campaign.</ExplanationTxt>

<ExplanationTxt>OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 4: ResearchEconomic Activity Study of Metro Denver Culture is a biennial study that demonstrates the financial and social impact of the arts on our region. CBCA has been publishing data on the economic impact and activity generated from the nonprofit arts sector since 1992. CBCA was planning to release its next Economic Activity Study in November 2020, which would examine data from the 2019 calendar year. By the spring of 2020, it became clear that that data would not be as relevant given the economic hardship now faced by cultural organizations as a result of the pandemic. CBCA decided to postpone the release of the next Study until fall 2021 and publish a report that would share and compare data from 2019 and 2020.
