During 2020, we increased the number of active language projects from 97 to 101. 85 churches and study groups were reported. We drafted 66,596 verses of Scripture, exegetically checked 29,465 and published 56,250 verses for the first time. During 2020, we continued building a new capacity for sign language translation worldwide. Finally, we note that in the 44 year history of Pioneer Bible, our teams have drafted about 895,000 verses of the Bible, the equivalent number of verses as 112 New Testaments, 8 of which were drafted in 2020. We have published 4 complete Bibles and 23 New Testaments. 408888 5095 Missionary Care - In 2020, the Care Department assisted in a variety of ways to provide our teammates and partners with programs and services to equip and sustain our worldwide team. There were dozens of re-entry contacts and confidential care debriefings provided for our coworkers returning from their countries of service for temporary home assignments and long-term resettlement. This was an acute need during the pandemic as many teammates unexpectedly found themselves returning home and staying in their home countries for long periods of time. Additionally, the Care Team served with countless hours of debriefing and caring consultations as certain teammates found themselves unable to find routes to their passport countries. The collaboration and consultations provided through Zoom and other platforms far exceeded any years of the past as it was imperative to address issues such as the pandemic, racial tensions, and political struggles back home and abroad. All these services were rendered to support our desire for the Care Department to serve as a catalyst of care in our efforts to see every person associated with our organizational functions involved in what we call our "Culture of Care." This comprehensive effort encourages our Care Team to intentionally mobilize all our working groups and projects to provide expatriate and national coworkers encouragement and holistic nurturing that leads to physical, spiritual, social, mental, professional, and emotional wellbeing. To this end, our Care Team coordinators and facilitators collaborated and participated in exchanges with worldwide coworkers through thousands of emails, social media exchanges, and teleconferences.Holding to past traditions, the Care Department provided leadership for several major events - 2 different Five-Day Prayer and Fasting events, Training of about 45 individuals in the USA and abroad in our Roots of Care curriculum, a Parents of Global Workers Seminar, 2 Field-Ready Send-off Celebrations and our first Worldwide Care Team Meeting. We provided a variety of articles, book suggestions, and conversation platforms to help people deal with the grief and trauma associated with world events. A Fasting and Prayer emphasis was continued through the year so that at least one person was fasting and praying each day of the year. The 24/7 prayer initiative was able to have at least one person in prayer every hour of every day. Daily prayer times and weekly chapel services moved to virtual environments in order to provide continuity of care and interaction.2020 unfortunately saw the cancellation of many planned training and spiritual events. However, hundreds of hospitality meals and nights of lodging were provided for our missionaries around the globe. Team dynamics seminars were held primarily in virtual environments for interns, teams preparing to go to the field, and for teams currently serving overseas. 1 full-time and 2 part-time counselors served the needs of people preparing for or serving in Asia, Africa, Europe, and North America. The Care Department also solidified virtual and face-to-face programs for young and teen-aged global workers. Those working with the youth provided pre-field training, post-field debriefing, and on-field virtual meetings. These efforts provided spiritual nurture, encouragement, and direction to field missionaries and their children. 318467 4080 Recruitment - Recruiting new missionaries is key to the mission of Pioneer Bible Translators. The organization had 46 new missionary recruits, held 4 in person events and another 24 online events. Through these events around 1,100 people became familiar with the ministry of Pioneer Bible Translators. Around 75 of these are serious inquirers. Training - Training new and current missionaries is an integral part of Pioneer Bible's mission. In 2020, personal and professional coaching was provided to at least 159 individuals preparing for cross-cultural work. A program practicum and planning course was offered in both the fall and the spring, and weekly chapel services were conducted throughout the year. The following workshops and seminars were also provided, training over 85 people during the year: Discovery Intensive, Partnership Development Bootcamp (2), and Primary Health Care Course. Ongoing training activities continued daily with new representatives and associates.
