We produce an event to coincide with International Women's Day. The event is a luncheon and workshop which matches women in finance who volunteer, with young female students from underserved Bay Area high schools for an afternoon of mentoring. 3083 Annual Wine Tasting Event. A Financial District tradition since 2001, this annual event connects volunteers and supporters with our program partners and leadership for an evening of education and networking. Sponsors for the event are solicited from corporations who support financial literacy initiatives. In 2020, the event was cancelled due to COVID-19; a special video update was offered instead. 51125 Student Workshop. In 2020, BAFEF launched a new "Student Workshop" program where volunteers from the finance industry are trained to lead financial education classes for high school and college students. We offer free classes for high schools, colleges, and youth organizations on the basics of personal finance: budgeting, paying for college, understanding credit scores, and more. Our classes are taught by financial professionals who want to help prepare young people for the financial decisions that they will make as adults. We were able to successfully reach 2,000 students, focusing on reaching underserved and at-risk youth throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, and teach via Zoom, educating students on topics including budgeting, understanding credit, basics of investing, paying for college, and taxes.
