We had to alter our annual fundraiser from a live fashion show event to a filmed virtual event. Although costs remained similar to prior years, this eliminated a significant amount of donations by limiting sponsorships. Along with those cutting back in donations, there were no ticket sales. Our proceeds from the event were significantly reduced from prior years. However, the reach was much broader for community viewing as it was put on virtually, and remains on YouTube. 4131 3543 We changed our class structure and curriculum in order to be able to offer summer sewing camps for kids ages 7-17. We put safety and cleaning protocols in place in line with CDC guidelines, reduced group size and offered hand sewing projects that could be taught from a safe (6ft) distance. We organized a community mask making effort by putting together mask kits that individuals could sew at home and return to us. These masks were then distributed at no cost to medical and business facilities that were not able to acquire masks due to supply shortages. Over the course of the pandemic, over 6500 masks were delivered to health providers in Shasta and Tehama counties. This also led to a contract with the county public health department to make 1200 reusable PPE Level 2 gowns, which we accomplished. We accomplished the class size reduction and were able to hold summer camps with hand sewing vs machine sewing. This allowed for safe distancing and reduced the chance of exposure. We purchased thermometers to take temperatures of all attendees. We incresed cleaning and sanitation protocols in compliance with the CDC.
