(A) Education/Outreach-Organized the first ever LGBTQ specific job fair that allowed LGBTQ individuals to access employment opportunities, job readiness programs, on-the job trainings and continuing education. Individuals also has access to interview makeovers which included professional attire , make-up, and hair. Worked with 100 LGBTQ individuals and 12 volunteers. (B) Advocacy-We lead advocates for trans victims of homicide and their families. Worked with families to ensure ongoing advocacy support, support with memorial services/ funeral expenses, clothing and food. Provided education to media on how to support Trans individuals and communities. Worked to organize healing support group for trans identified individuals to receive grief support and advocacy services. We worked on 5 homicide cases, with 12 family members, 100 community members and 5 volunteers. (C) Youth- We organized the youth pride tent at KC Pride weekend which was a space specifically for young people ages 12-24 to engage with one another, play games, gain access to youth specific resources in KC, goodie bags, access food and water (which is not accessible without pay) and round the clock advocates that could support with any conflict or issue that came up. Form 990, Part V, Line 2b Federal Forms 941 are being filed in 2021 to coincide with setting up a payment plan with the IRS for the unpaid tax liabilities due. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11b The Form 990 is provided to Board members for review before filing, requesting their feedback and approval. Form 990, Part VI, Section C, Line 19 Financial statements and governing documents are available to the public upon request. 2018 and 2019 were challenging years for the Kansas City Anti-Violence Project (KCAVP). Board turnover, staff turnover, inaccessible records, and records destroyed in a fire all contributed to the delay in completing the 2018 Form 990. In November 2019, accounting services were outsourced to assist in re-building the accounting records for KCAVP. The onset of Covid 19 and the related shut downs further delayed our efforts. These circumstances represent reasonable cause for the 2019 return late filing. The delay in filing the return was not due to negligence or willful neglect. We respectfully request that any late filing penalties be waived.
