The Gate support teens in making wise choices in their daily lives by providing relevant services to them in collaboration with other community resources. It is a place where youth are known as individuals, encouraged to grow and learn and encounter unconditional love. 0 0 11212 0 0 Thursdays at The Gate - Thursdays at The Gate is a recreational and social component of The Gate/Central High School After-school Program collaboration. From 3:15 to 6:00, 50 to 60 students gather in a church multipurpose room across from the high school that is transformed into a recreation and learning area. Snacks are available throughout the afternoon and a free dinner is served at 5:15. Volunteer staff from the local college and the greater community, interact with and mentor the students as they socialize, seek advice and play indoor and outdoor games. Tutoring and computer use is available on site. Additionally cooking, crafting and leadership classes and opportunities are accessible to the students. This free program is funded through a work/study grant and The Gate Youth Association. 34 0 0 Mentoring - The Mentoring Program is a collaborative program with the Central High School College and Career Center helping students with post high school planning and implementation. This year 8 mentors individually worked with 14 seniors as they transitioned beyond high school. Additionally a small underclass student mentoring program was piloted this year, with plans to expand it in the fall of 2019. 2846 0 2846 High School Lunch - Tuesday Lunch is a lunch prepared by community and parent volunteers for up to 170 high school students and staff every Tuesday. During the 30 minute lunch period, participants walk across the street to a "teen comfort food" lunch and experience a short inspirational talk in an inviting and affirming environment where they are known, encouraged and experience the love of Christ. The thirteen lunch moms served as mentors to many students this year, some students being teen parents, some struggling with problems at home, some triple sport athletes and some honor students. The program, celebrating its 30th year is funded through customer receipts and generous donors. 6504 0 0 Access Community Youth Group - On Thursday evenings The Gate provides a traditional youth group including games, Bible study and worship. This group is available to unchurched youth as well as those attending any church in the community. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11b The Form 990 is reviewed with the governing board at the board meeting following the submittal of the form. Form 990, Part VI, Section C, Line 19 Governing documents, conflict of interest policy and financial statements are available to anyone on request. When the tax filing date was delayed this year, we checked online to see if the Form 990 due dates were delayed. We accidentally looked at a 2020 announcement indicating a July 15th due date. We were unaware that we had missed the filing until we received a letter from our state agency informing us of a delinquent filing. We received that letter on Monday, June 28th and have worked as quickly as possible to complete this filing. Thank you for your consideration.
