Schedule D, Part III, Line 4 In keeping with its depot theme, significant displays exhibit railroad memorabilia including a working telegraph display, a caboose, and a section hand car. Other exhibits include Indian artifacts, farm tools, and equipment. A prominent display is the only replica of the Ezekiel Airship, a flying machine that reportedly flew a year before the Wright Brother's historic flight. Artifacts on display include contributions to 20th century heritage and display early communications (telephone, telegraph, print media) equipment, a restored 1920's American LaFrance fire truck, and artifacts depicting industrial growth in this area. The Farmstead facility depicts early 20th century life in rural Northeast Texas. No value is assigned to any of these assets nor any revenue associated therewith Schedule D, Part V, Line 4 The endowment fund is a quasi endowment fund (funds so designated by the board of trustees) and are available to supplement revenue in order to pay operating expenses, when necessary, and upon approval of the executive committee. Form 990, Part III, Line 3 Covid 19 resulted in multiple forced closings of the museum facilities during 2020, resulting in reduced visitations and admission revenue. It was necessary to cancel the annual fundraiser which typically accounts for 30 percent of the annual operating budget. Office and managerial functions were maintained at near normal levels. Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 2 Family relationship. Chairwoman, Brenda Barnwell, is the mother-in-law of Trustee and Executive Committee member, Elaine Barnwell. Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 6 The organization is composed of individuals and businesses whose membership must be renewed annually and is open to all members of the public. For 2020, membership was 202. Each member has voting rights which can be exercised at the annual meeting Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 7a Annually, the membership elects approximately 1/3 of the Trustees who are elected to serve three year terms. The Trustees then annually elect from its ranks approximately 10 members to serve on the Executive Committee for one year terms. The Executive Committee is considered to be the primary governing body of the organization. Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 7b Any amendments to the bylaws must be approved by the general membership at its annual meeting. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11b The Treasurer prepares the return and submits it to all members of the Executive Committee for their review prior to its filing. It is not submitted to all of the membership but is available upon their request. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 15 All decisions regarding the compensation of the Museum Director and the two facility managers are made by the Executive Committee and recorded in the minutes of said meeting. No member of the Executive Committee receives compensatopn for their service. Form 990, Part VI, Section C, Line 19 Copies of bylaws, governing documents, interim financial reports, and Form 990 are available to all members of the public, upon request. Organizations in Texas were granted an extra 30 days (or until June 15, 2021) to file Form 990 due to the winter snowstorm in February.
