I am writing on behalf of the Weimaraner Rescue of Texas, Inc. (WRT) regarding the late filing penalty potential for the attached 990 Form and associated schedules for the tax year 07/01/2020-6/30/2021. The ID for the organization is 75-2739729. The organization believes it has reasonable cause for filing late and is hereby requesting that the IRS abate the late-filing penalties. The WRT is a charity whose mission is the rescue, rehabilitate and locate adoptive homes for the Weimaraner breed. The volunteers which worked during the tax year ended 6/30/2021 were not compensated for their time when working on behalf of WRT, save for an accountant who is being paid a de minimis amount. In August 2021, the accountant got the accounting records current, and then prepared the previously filed 2018 and 2019 form 990s in September and October. The accountant feel a little behind due to work, implementing an accounting system and his family life demanding more of his time during the evenings and weekends. Additionally. the accountant was mistaken in thinking the filing deadline for a fiscal year end of June 30th, would have a filing date of December 15th and not November 15th. The return was prepared as soon as the accountant realized his mistake.
