In addition, support is being provided for the hospice operated by Western Health Resources (WHR) and for other humanitarian purposes.Central Valley Health Foundation also receives donations from Adventist Health Central Valley Network employees to benefit the Employee Emergency Fund. This fund was created to benefit employees during a financial hardship. Employees can receive up to $500 in financial assistance.In 2020, over $13,000 was disbursed to 28 employees. Each year, the Employee Emergency Fund committee finds itself in shock over the financial challenges some of the employees face. A simple example of assistance in a prior year was for an employee and family who were living out of their vehicle. The request was simple, they just wanted gas money and a Wal-Mart gift card to purchase food and toiletries.The Foundation is honored with the ability to help pay for unexpected bills in a time of need. This is one way in which the Foundation lives the mission of Adventist Health by sharing Gods love.The Foundation also has a Healing Hearts Fund that provides $200 for funeral expenses for a stillborn delivered at any of our Birth Centers. This is a small genture of compassion we can provide for the mother and family during this difficult time.Another way the Foundation impacts the community is that it receives a variety of household goods through its partnership with World Vision, and connects these goods with more than 120 nonprofit community partners that can distribute them directly to families in need.During 2020 the Foundation received goods valued at $620,452. This entailed 18 semi-truck shipments to both the Hanford and Reedley warehouses. Over 43,000 individuals benefited from these goods provided free to them. We have been blessed to provide diapers, personal items, furniture and house items to those re-establishing their life after a tough economic situation.Some examples include:1. The Hanford Seventh-day Adventist Spanish Church provided household goods, diapers, hygiene items and furniture to hundreds of families in Kings and Fresno Counties.2. The Laton Nazarene Church focuses on families who suffer from house fires and have delivered to numerous familes furniture, refrigerators, food & hygiene products.3. Reef Sunset School District in Avenal received office furniture and break room upgrades and have been able to provide decorations for their school dances.
