These collections are held for public exhibition, education and research in furtherance of the University's educational and public service mission. The art decorates buildings across campus, with the majority of work housed in Funderburg Library. A small number of pieces, particularly portraits, can be used as tools for students to examine techniques. Schedule D, Part X, Line 2 The University is exempt from federal income taxes under Section 501(a) of the Internal Revenue Code (IRC) as an organization described in Section 501(c)(3) of the IRC, except to the extent of unrelated business income tax under Sections 511 through 515 of the IRC. Unrelated business income tax is insignificant or nonexistent and, therefore, no tax provision has been made.
