With one eye on Chastain Park's glorious past and another on its promising future, the Conservancy Board and membership are focused on four main objectives:Restore: Update and rehabilitate historic structures and legacy amenities to meet the needs of current and future visitors.Enhance: Add new facilities to improve the Park and continually make it a better experience. Maintain: Utilize efficient management practices to keep Chastain Park safe, clean and green at every level of operation. Preserve: Build a sustainable financial underpinning to ensure that the Conservancy's long-term goals are adequately funded through partnerships and corporate donations. 0 0 60112 Enhance: 2021 saw the implementation of the Chastain Park Avenue PATH project, a pedestrian safety initiative which completed the PATH around Chastain Park. We also continued repairs to the Quonset Hut site with the installation of a new concrete slab. In addition, the Conservancy installed two new park benches. The collective park investment value of these initiatives totaled $1,824,500 ($1.8M PATH, $19,500 Concrete Slab, $5,000 Benches). 55975 Restore: The Conservancy continued to remove invasive species from the park in an effort to open up available passive greenspace for general public use. The Northwoods area, Palisades and South Trail were our three focus areas. Costs associated with Invasive Plant removal and weed prevention totaled $18,000 ($10k Invasive Removal Program, $8k Truegreen). 135112 Maintain: 2021 saw the expansion of our maintenance staff, maintenance equipment investments and added beautification efforts. The CPC planted native plants including 35 trees throughout the park and provided more efficient maintenance of passive greenspaces. We purchased an auger to aid in new native plantings, repaired our lawn movers and invested in a pressure washer. The collective cost of this effort was $57,550 ($8,750 Trees, $3,500 Native Plants, $3,700 Equipment and $41,600 New Hire). General Operations - The Conservancy works to keep the Park clean, safe and green for its estimated two million annual visitors.
