We celebrate the good work our donors are making possible. We are committed to seeing lives changed!GeneralWe raised over $850,000 in total in 2021.We raised over $45,000 in sales from our products, supporting our programs.Despite COVID-19 restrictions, we took three trips to Kenya to work with our partners and distribute water filters.Sustainability ProgramsBuilding Projectso The Valley Light building project is well under way and targeted to complete in June of 2022. This has been where the bulk of our fundraising efforts have been for the last 2 years. There have been many challenges in building a home this size during a global pandemic with material shortages and labor shortages. This will be our largest project to date and we are very excited to see it completed.o Two acres of land purchased with a deep water well and bottling plant. The property has been secured with a block fense and security gates. This will be used for community trainings, tree seedling farm and a Gender Based Violence clinic and training center.Sustainability Projectso Funded a Solar Water Pump Project for the deep-water well which has reduced electricity costs for our partners by 90% so they could reinvest those funds into their sustainability programso Drip Irrigation installed at Hope Beyond furthering sustainability efforts and food securityEducation Projectso Funded 73 counseling sessions with Kutoa Project for the children at Valley Lighto Educational Sponsorships - Just One Africa is working with our partners to identify the children with the greatest need of support and match them with sponsors who can help with education, medical, housing, and food costs. This creates an opportunity for individuals and families to learn about the world around them and have meaningful avenues to care for others. We have provided educational support for 52 children attending primary and secondary schools in Kenya. o We continued a US school partnership in Alabama with a specific focus on support and building connections for our Valley Light partners.o We continued our partnership Kutoa Project, aimed at addressing the trauma-related needs within caregivers and staff at Valley Light Home. o We provided trauma training for the staff and teachers at Lenkai School in partnership with Kutoa Project, allowing for the growth of more trauma-informed environments.Clean Water Programo Purchased a 4x4 vehicle for our southern Kenya Follow-Up team o Water Filter Follow-up Program - We continued our follow up program in Central and Southern Kenya. Our southern Kenya team travels weekly to do follow up on our filters in the surrounding area collecting essential data and building good community relationships in the areas we serve. We continue to gather excellent feedback on the health the filters are providing. This vital process allows us to analyze the water filter data to monitor our success rates carefully and make any adjustments in the areas in which we serve. We are currently collecting the data using a paper-based system and entering it into spreadsheets. Then it is uploaded and shared in a cloud-based system that is accessible anywhere in the world. o WASH - Water Filter, Sanitation, and Hygiene training have been provided to over 300+ people in 2021.o Recycled Paper Bead Program - This continues to thrive and offers significant support to our Clean Water Program. It provides sustainable income to the women's artisan groups from whom we purchase the beads. The program also provides volunteer opportunities for young people, corporate team building events, and others as they help us to string the beads into bracelets. Vulnerable Children Monthly Supporto Lenkai Christian School - 2021 Total $24,000 (Rescue Center Support)o Sponsorship of 52 children - providing full education, room, and board as well as medical treatments and counselingStaffo Full-time US Director of Operations. o Full-time US Program Directoro One part-time person to help manage volunteer projects.Volunteerso Administrative - one regular part-time volunteer, limited due to COVID-19 restrictionso Schools and Clubs - Were paused due to COVID-19 restrictions o Events - Most of our events were canceled due to COVID-19 restrictions.Just One Africa partners with local leaders to create sustainable solutions for vulnerable children and the clean water crisis. These realities are made possible by Just One Africa donors who have provided many opportunities for our incredible partners in Kenya. They can now move more securely towards providing for the needs of the vulnerable children they care for. Our partners work diligently running schools, an orphanage, and a rescue center. JOA checks the names of all organization board members and key staff members against the US and UN watch lists. Representatives from JOA conduct in-person visits multiple times per year to review past projects and research future projects. Grant funds are provided based on an annual grant agreement and grant agreement adendums. Funds are transferred from the U.S. monthly upon receipt of adequate documentation from grantee including but not limited to: receipts, written reports and pictures.
