We provided $5,626 in gas cards for 158 callers, $5,621 in lodging assistance for 46 callers, and $325 in childcare assistance for 14 callers. Our Abortion Support Fund welcomed a long-time hotline volunteer to our staff as Support Fund Coordinator allowing our program to expand in capacity and resources. This benefits volunteer retention, and in turn, means more thorough support for callers. Our team celebrated the passage & implementation of the Louisville Safety Zone ordinance, which has directly improved access for Kentucky patients. Updated & relaunched long-distance transportation programs as vaccine access became more common to meet the increasing needs of traveling abortion seekers. Trained new volunteer case managers and drivers. Achieved some of our language access goals AND created a public-facing abortion support intake form, two concrete steps in making our support more accessible in Kentuckys diverse communities. In July 2021 our Support Fund convened our volunteer hotliners for our first hybrid retreat, bringing together about 15 team members in person and remotely for team building and goal setting together. 87878 In partnership with Power to Decide and Appalshop, we work to build a sustainable policy, services, and program environment in Eastern Kentucky so all people have awareness of and access to the full range of reproductive health services.In 2021 AAEKY partnered with Sexy Sex Ed to host two virtual summer camp workshops. We distributed 6,000 condoms and 300 doses of emergency contraception. AAEKY hosted 3 young people from Eastern Kentucky to discuss their experience accessing reproductive healthcare in the region. We completed 6 online trainings were hosted that covered topics of teen-friendly services, birth control, quick starting a BC method, STIs/HIV, gender-inclusive care, and pharmacist provision of EC. 3 Nexplanon devices were granted to Big Sandys Physicians for Women and Families Clinic. There were 17 participants registered for One Key Question with registration costs covered by the AAEKY team. We provided $8,000 in Surgical Grant support. We supported $4,425 in Caller Housing, $4,534 Gender-Affirming Items, and $1,590 in Caller transportation. We also hosted 8 educational events, developed YouTube Resource Library, joined Ban Conversion Therapy Kentucky Coalition, and began Legislative Advocacy Program. 72059 Take Root targets those who have the most work to do with the fewest hands and dollars available to support them. Hosting a conference with a reproductive justice framework helps us see the connection between poverty and food access in rural and urban communities, histories of coercive sterilization of people of color, the disparity in impacts of the criminalization of drugs and its effects on families, gender self-determination and gender violence, access to contraception, trans health, and medical consent information. In 2021 we had 118 registered attendees which is a growth rate of 58% over 2020. There were 116 active participants in the conference app. Attendees affiliated Organizations were If/When/How, Ibis Reproductive Health, Plan C, and Carafem.
