In 2021, despite the continued difficulties of remote work, Oasis screened over 170 LGBTQIA+ immigrants for asylum. We represented 134 new asylum seekers and continued legal representation for the more than 400 asylum seekers whose cases are currently pending. 65 clients were granted asylum. We do periodically provide other immigration legal services to the LGBTQIA+ community as well. These services have included fiance petitions, family petitions, Temporary Protected Status, travel documents, applications under the Violence Against Women Act, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, and other immigration services. Oasis provides holistic client support services to our clients as well as direct legal representation. This program supports our clients through the difficult process of applying for asylum and connects them to the social, emotional, and legal support they need throughout their case and once they are granted legal status. Some of the services that we connect our clients to are: newcomer programs for asylees and refugees, mental health services and support groups, affordable health care, emergency housing, cash assistance, job training, and legal representation for employment discrimination. He recused himself from votes related to her compensation and position. The final draft of the Form 990 is shared with the entire Board of Directors prior to filing. Form 990, Part VI, Line 12c: Explanation of Monitoring and Enforcement of Conflicts Oasis shares the conflicts policy with all new directors that join the board and regularly check in with board members about any conflicts that may arise during their tenure. Form 990, Part VI, Line 15a: Compensation Review & Approval Process - CEO, Top Management Executive Director Caroline Robert's salary was reviewed and approved by the Board of Directors. They used contemporaneous information about executive director pay for similar sized organizations in the San Francisco Bay Area. Director Jack Kornfield is Executive Director Caroline Kornfield Roberts' father. As such, he recuses himself from any discussions or decisions involving Ms. Roberts' compensation or role within the organization.
